LET'S GET BACK TO WORK ON THE CHASSIS!
The chassis is perhaps the most critical element — or rather, the central foundation of any restomod. Much like in architecture, it defines everything that follows.
Working on vehicles of this era demands absolute rigour. A restomod is driven not only by the pursuit of performance, but above all by the imperative of safety. Such outcomes can only be achieved through deep expertise — from reinforcing existing structures to refining them, and, where necessary, rethinking and re-engineering entire sections.
Because a restomod is far more than a restoration (see our article on what a restomod is). It is a study of structures and materials — a balance between advanced engineering and true craftsmanship, in the noblest sense of the term. The chassis, above all, demands this level of attention: to be elevated, redefined, and prepared to accommodate — under the best possible conditions — the enhanced capabilities of Project-A 504.
Conscious of what was at stake, we set out in search of a rare partner — a company capable of meeting these exacting standards and shaping the very foundation of our restomod.
We found it here in France, in the Ardèche region, with RS Motorsport.
Who are RS Motorsport?
RS Motorsport: specialists in roll cages and competition car preparation in Vallon-Pont-d’Arc
Based in Vallon-Pont-d’Arc, in the Ardèche region of France, RS Motorsport specialises in the preparation of competition vehicles and the design of bespoke roll cages. Founded in 2017 by Romain Serre, a driver and lifelong motorsport enthusiast, the company has established itself as a recognised name within the world of rally and performance engineering.
Custom roll cage design and fabrication
RS Motorsport is particularly renowned for its expertise in the design and fabrication of homologated roll cages, engineered to meet the exacting standards of motorsport. Each structure is developed specifically to ensure:
- optimal safety for driver and co-driver
- increased chassis rigidity
- full compliance with current regulations
The workshop is equipped with a chassis jig as well as a 3D scanning system, ensuring absolute precision in the geometry of each structure — an essential requirement to achieve results aligned with the standards of a manufacturer.
Comprehensive competition car preparation
Beyond roll cages, RS Motorsport offers a complete approach to vehicle preparation:
- bespoke composite components
- fabrication of welded assemblies
- design and integration of electrical harnesses
- chassis optimisation
- structural reinforcement and geometry setup
- restoration and construction of rally cars
This versatility allows for the development of complete projects, from roll cage installation to fully prepared, turnkey competition vehicles.
Expertise across iconic models
The workshop regularly works on iconic vehicles from the world of motorsport, including:
Peugeot 205, Renault 5 Turbo, Ford Sierra RS Cosworth, Porsche Cayman
This diversity reflects RS Motorsport’s ability to operate across both classic and modern platforms, while respecting their technical and regulatory constraints.
A recognised level of expertise
RS Motorsport has been recognised at the Ardèche Chamber of Commerce awards in the “industrial performance” category. This distinction highlights the company’s investment in advanced technologies and its uncompromising commitment to quality. (Le Dauphiné Libéré)
RS Motorsport: precision, performance and dedication
Today, RS Motorsport represents a new generation of specialised workshops, combining precision craftsmanship with modern engineering. Its approach is built around three core principles: safety, performance and technical excellence.
These are the very values now brought to our Project-A 504 — a vision that, this time, will be fully road legal.

Collaboration with Allure Provence Automotive: Project-A 504
As part of Project-A 504, Allure Provence Automotive has entrusted RS Motorsport with the complete restoration and re-engineering of the Peugeot 504 Coupé chassis, within the framework of a high-end restomod approach focused on elevating its performance.
The scope of work includes:
- Chassis alignment on a jig: Inspection and correction of the structure to ensure perfect geometry.
- Removal of corroded sections and reconstruction of sound structures: All areas affected by corrosion are repaired or removed where necessary, and replaced with restored or fully bespoke fabricated components to ensure structural integrity and long-term durability.
- Structural reinforcement: Additional weld points and reinforcements are integrated to increase chassis rigidity and enhance overall performance.
- Installation of a roll cage: A bespoke, fully compliant safety structure is designed and fabricated to meet modern safety standards.
- Creation of a bespoke transmission tunnel: The central section of the chassis is reworked to accommodate modern mechanical components while preserving structural balance.
- Engine subframe re-engineering: The engine cradle is redesigned to integrate the modern powertrain that will equip Project-A, while maintaining the vehicle’s overall balance.
- Rear section reconstruction: The rear structure is re-engineered to accommodate a modern composite fuel tank, designed to be lightweight and positioned for an optimised centre of gravity, along with the reconstruction of the lower boot area.
- Integration of modern suspension systems: Implementation of updated running gear to enhance handling, precision and overall driving performance.
Through this collaboration with a specialist in its field, we are laying the foundations for Project-A 504 to emerge under the best possible conditions — ensuring elevated performance, structural integrity and enhanced safety. Essential qualities for a restomod conceived to the highest standards.
